Thanks for organising the talk and getting such a great audience together. I always enjoy giving the talks to Dive Clubs as they are always receptive, interested and have a few experiences to share. Thanks so much for the donation, its a great help and the reason why I do the talks – to raise funds/members for the trust. As I said please pass on my contact details if anyone has any further questions or queries and please contact the Shark Trust office if we can work with you in any of your activities.

Many thanks,

Mark

DIVING IN SALCOMBE ON ATLANTIS

Phoenix Charters is a well-established charter business running trips out of the Salcombe Estuary, in the beautiful South Hams area in Devon.

Set in some of the most breath taking scenery in England, this friendly seaside town welcomes visitors from around the world. More often recognised as a yachting destination, the fabulous diving around the Salcombe coastline has wrecks ranging from 10-60m to suit all levels of diving.

Atlantis was our new boat in 2009; she is an Off Shore 105, 36? boat with a 400hp engine and is a fast and efficient boat for up to 10 people.

Facilities on board include: – large deck area, WC, seating for 4/5 in the wheel house, cooker and all important tea making facilities! O2 is also kept on board for any emergences.

On shore, The Phoenix Charters shop has a compressor providing air fills for your dives.

(nitrox is not available but if your club has a qualified blender we are able to provide O2 at an additional cost and have O2 clean air for your nitrox bottles).

Also the shop will be stocking basic dive kit for the summer (mask, fins, straps etc).

Popular wreck sites: Maine 34m, Persier 28m, Oregon 34m

Skaala 45m number 66 in 100 best dives. www.divernt.com/wrecks
Riversdale 41m number 39 in 100 best dives
Newholm 28-44m number 69 in 100 best dives.

There are also many wrecks over 50m : Madina [huge liner] deck 55m seabed 65m number 14 in 100 best dives, Grelhelm 75m and the Laertes at 67m to name just three.

There is also some excellent reef and drift dives including Gammon head, Prawl point, Graystone ledges, Shoal ground and the East rutts.

Costs: £250 per half day which includes one dive [up to ten divers]

£450 per day which includes two dives [up to ten divers]
