After a very pleasant weekend’s diving at Weymouth and a very healthy haul of scallops, the time has come to pack up my dive gear for another year (no, I’m not one of those hardy types who dives throughout the winter!). I thought I’d take this opportunity to share a couple of upcoming events with you all.
Thursday 20th October is our Annual General Meeting which will be held at the Pool in the Park. You will be receiving official notification in the next couple of weeks, but put it in your diaries now. Please can everyone try and attend as it’s your chance to hear about how our year has gone, reports about our diving, club finances and club RIB. We’ll also be asking if anyone wants to stand as a club officer or join the committee so if you’d like to take a more active role in the club, here’s your chance!
Another date for your diary is our Christmas Party at The Cricketers on Saturday 26th November. Always a fun night with with excellent food, dancing, competitions and the odd drink or two! More details to follow.
Hope you’re all enjoying browsing through the stories and features on our superb website (www.surreyaquanauts.org.uk
). It’s been a real success this year and has now become the major means of contact for anyone interested in finding out about our club and learning to dive. Thanks to Hajo for all his hard work on design and keeping the content fresh and up to date. If you haven’t taken a look recently I can highly recommend it. As ever, any feedback gratefully received!
See you all soon…
The dive season’s well underway, despite a shaky start thanks to some blustery weather! Let’s hope it behaves itself for the rest of the year!. At least the weather was kind to us at this year’s club picnic at Hayling Island, so much so I think there were a few sore sunburnt bods the next day. Thanks to Mick for bringing th club RIB over from Eastney and giving our trainees a dive around the Nab Tower.
I’m pleased to say we’ve gained a few new members too in recent weeks so come and say hello to Keith, Sonia, Phil, Daryl, Ben and Andy next time you’re at the pool or The Cricketers.
