Guildford BSAC Winter Lectures
Rebreathers, Fact, Fiction and Voodoo and Other Adventures
Kevin Gurr, VR Technology
Guildford Waterside Centre, Tuesday 28th February at 21.00
Open to GBSAC Members and Non-Members
Guildford BSAC is privileged to be hosting an evening with Kevin Gurr on Tuesday 28th February, when Kevin will talk about rebreathers, dispel many myths about technical diving and share with us his experiences and adventures from many years in the world of diving.
This event is open to Guildford BSAC members and non-members.
Kevin Gurr is one of the UK’s most eminent technical divers and his VR Technology business is one of the leading suppliers of rebreathers and technical diving computers. Apart from Kevin’s commercial interests, he is also a Member of European Committee on Diving Standards, was among the first to dive the 120m HMS Britannic in 1997, took part in the search for the missing X craft and has been a diving consultant to the Hollywood film industry. In his spare time Kevin is a keen motorcylcist and recently completed the grueling 2,500 km Tuareg Rally.
Kevin’s company, VR Technology in Poole Dorset is a rare mix of experienced technical divers and professional engineers producing ground-breaking products for the diving industry. VR Technology developed the first widely accepted technical diving computer and closed circuit rebreather control system, along with ‘ProPlanner’ the first and probably the world’s most copied dive planning PC software. VR Technology’s VR3 and VRx dive computers are the most popular and best selling technical dive computers in the world. They are used by world record holders, various militaries and sport divers and the Sentinel LSS rebreather is considered by many as the best designed closed circuit rebreather in the world today.
As a pioneer in rebreather design and development, Kevin’s presentation will allay many of the fears, concerns and misconceptions that are commonly aimed at rebreathers and will review rebreather and non-rebreather projects in which he has been involved and the lessons learned from them.
